Colorado Capitol has new Trump portrait, after he railed over last one

A new presidential portrait sits in the Colorado Capitol, after one that had hung in the building for six years drew the ire of Donald Trump, who claimed that it “purposefully distorted” his image.

The original portrait was swiftly removed, and this week a noticeably sterner portrait appeared in its place — and the president appears much happier with the result.

“Thank you to the Highly Talented Artist, Vanessa Horabuena, and the incredible people of Colorado,” Trump posted Tuesday on his social network Truth Social, together with a photo of the new painting.

The White House donated the portrait about a month ago, and it was put up this week, the AP reported. The image is much closer to Trump’s latest presidential portrait, which in turn bears a resemblance to his famous mug shot. The photo taken at a jail in Georgia in 2023 became a symbol of the 2024 election, worn by his supporters in defiance of prosecutions that Trump portrayed as political.
